Although probably best-known for her Emmy Award-winning portrayal of Cybill Shepherd's wisecracking best friend Maryann Thorpe on the hit television series Cybill (1995–97), she is also an acclaimed stage actress, having won Tony Awards for her performances in Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing (1984) and Neil Simon's Rumors (1989).
